ABOUT YOUR VISIT
Preparation for your appointment
When you come to an acupuncture appointment, it is best to avoid coffee on the day of treatment (studies have shown that caffeine negates some of the effects of acupuncture). Wear loose clothing as this will assist the pracitioner to assess and treat you. You will be encouraged to refrain from vigorous exercise after treatment and can resume normal exercise activities the following day. You may feel tired after the treatment, so care is needed if you are about to drive. Side-effects of acupuncture are minimal: minor bruising or bleeding occurs in about 3% of treatments and pain during treatment occurs in about 1% of treatments. It is common to feel a pulse, throb or electric type of sensation at the site of needle insertion. Out of respect to the practitioner and other clients who may be waiting for an appointment, at least 24 hours notice is required when cancelling or changing an appointment.
PATIENT INFORMATION
Your information is kept private and confidential. Consent for treatment can be withdrawn at any time and you are encouraged to ask questions regarding your treatment if you have any queries. Sterile, single-use, disposable needles are always used in the clinic.
